Cheesy Garlic Bread is an easy appetizer/snack that is super simple to make comes together with just a few ingredients. Its a no-fail recipe and comes out good every single time. Its great on its own OR with a dip of tomato ketchup/hot sauce and also pairs perfect as a side with pastas and soups to make it a wholesome meal. Its a classic combination for all the bread and cheese lovers like me.
I prefer to skip the spice/heat in this recipe and let garlic do all the flavoring job along with a few herbs. But you can totally chop up some green chillies or add some red chilli flakes to taste. The amount of garlic can be varied as per ones liking. I usually use the French Loaf for this recipe as I like the fact that when the bread is sliced the shape of each slice slightly differs from the other giving it a nice visual presence (especially if you are planning it for a party/potluck). But any bread can be used. Try these at home and sure you will never go back to the store bought/restaurant ones.
Now to the recipe…
6 slices of French bread (or any other bread of choice)
1 tbsp butter at room temperature
2 tbsp of cream cheese at room temperature
1 tsp garlic paste
1 tsp dry parley + additional for garnishing
1 tsp dry oregano
salt and pepper to taste
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 tbsp of chopped cilantro for garnishing (optional)
Preheat oven to 375F. Line a baking tray with aluminium foil and spray/coat it with oil. In a bowl combine the butter, cream cheese, garlic, parsley, oregano, salt and pepper. Mix well so that it all well combined.
Now apply this mixture on one side of the bread and place it on the lined baking tray with the mixture side facing upwards. Bake for 10 mins. Remove from the oven and spread the mozzarella cheese evenly on all slices. Bake for another 10 mins or until the cheese has melted. Remove from the oven and sprinkle some dry parsley and cilantro.
- I have used french bread for this recipe but you can use any bread of choice. Just keep a watch while baking as the time may vary based on the bread you use.
- Adding cream cheese to butter mixture makes it more creamy and cheesy but you can also use all butter or all cream cheese
- For a lighter version, skip the cream cheese and butter and use olive oil instead keeping rest all ingredients same.
- I have used dry parsley for this recipe but you can also use fresh parsley.
