In a pan add 1 teaspoon ghee and the coconut and roast for about 5 mins. Do not brown them.
Stir in condensed milk and mix until all is well combined.
Aad the cardamom powder and finely chopped cashews and keep mixing until it thicken and forms a ball/sticky dough.
Take it off the heat and allow to cool a bit, enough for you to be able to hold and roll into a ball .
Divide the mixture into 12-14 equal parts.
Rub some ghee to your palms and take one portion and make it into a smooth ball by rolling it between your palms.
Roll all Ladoos in similar manner and keep them on a plate.
Next, roll these balls in the dedicated coconut and keep aside. Garnish with some pistachios or raisins (pressed on top).
Serve these warm/freshly made or cold. These stay good for up to a week when refrigerated and stored in an air-tight container.
Use good quality desiccated coconut. Fresh or frozen can be used too.
Roll the Ladoos while they are still warm.
Nuts are optional but highly recommended since they add a good crunch and texture to this recipe.
Food color can be added to make a fun variation.
