Equipment

Ingredients

  • ½ cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • ½ cup white chocolate chips
  • 10-12 fresh strawberries
  • Toppings of choice using chopped walnuts, chocolate sprinkles, and valentine theme sprinkles

Instructions

Prep Work

  • Wash the strawberries thoroughly and gently pat dry them with a paper napkin or kitchen towel. If required, air dry them further on a kitchen towel till completely dry. Line a plate or a baking tray with parchment paper and place the strawberries (once completely dry) over it. Keep aside.
  • Keep all your toppings ready like sprinkles, finely chopped walnuts, shredded coconut etc.
  • Divide the strawberries into two equal portions (this is optional) one to be dipped into white chocolate and others into semi sweet chocolate.

Stove Top Method to melt chocolate:

  • Using a double broiler method bring water in the bottom saucepan/vessel to a boil and place the bowl with semi sweet chocolate chips (should fit perfect and the bowl should be completely dry). With heat on low, keep stirring occasionally until the chips begin to melt and chocolate turns smooth. Now take it off the heat and give it a good mix.
  • Similarly melt the white chocolate by placing another clean and dry bowl with white chocolate chips. (This is optional and you can cover all your strawberries with just the semi sweet chocolate).
  • Immediately start the dipping process while the chocolate is still warm.

Instant Pot Method to melt chocolate:

  • Add 2 cups of water to the Stainless steel Pot of the Instant Pot. Place a glass bowl containing the chocolate chips on top of the Instant pot such that bottom portion is inside the pot but the top is still over the Instant pot (similar to double broiler).
  • Start saute mode on Normal and allow the steam to melt the chocolate. Once the chocolate starts melting, stir occasionally until completed melted and smooth. Cancel the saute function and you can switch it on warm mode to keep the chocolate melted. Start the dipping process.

Microwave Method to melt chocolate

  • Melt chocolate in microwave at 50%power in 30 seconds interval. Mix after each interval to make sure the chocolate is melting evenly.

Strawberry Dipping Process

  • Once you have your strawberries, melted chocolate (semi sweet and white) and toppings ready, start the dipping process. For this, work with one strawberry at a time. Hold the strawberry using its green leaves and dip it in the bowl of melted chocolate (you can alternate between semi sweet and white) such that its ¾ portion is dipped. Swirl and turn until the chocolate covers the strawberries well leaving some top portion of the strawberry as is. Tap off any excess chocolate.
  • If you want to add any toppings this is the time – Hold the chocolate coated strawberry over a clean plate and sprinkle the toppings of choice by slowly rotating the strawberry to distribute toppings evenly. Once done carefully place the strawberry back on the baking sheet. If you don’t want to add any topping simply place the dipped chocolate strawberry on to the baking sheet.
  • Repeat the process for remaining strawberries from the first batch. Allow the chocolate to set/dry completely. You can keep the tray into the fridge for 5 mins or until the chocolate sets. Don’t keep it for too long or else condensation might occur.
  • Transfer the remaining melted white and semi sweet chocolate into a small ziplock bag and push it towards one corner and make it into a cone. Snip off a tiny portion of the cone and start making designs of choice on the set strawberries without toppings. Allow the drizzled chocolate to set completely outside or in the refrigerator.
  • These stay good at room temperature for couple of hours or in the refrigerator for a day or two. But these are best when eaten fresh or within few hours.
  • That's it, our super yummy but extremely easy to make Chocolate Covered Strawberries are ready. Serve these as desserts or appetizers or as a gift to your friends/family/someone special. Enjoy!!

Notes

  • Always melt the chocolate at low temperatures.
  • Avoid chocolate to come in contact with water. Make sure the bowl is completely dry.
  • If you feel the texture of the chocolate is grainy add a 1 teaspoon of vegetable/canola oil to the melted chocolate and give it a stir.
