Pav bhaji is a popular Mumbai street food made of a spicy mashed vegetable curry served with soft butter-toasted dinner rolls, crunchy onions, and lemon.

Ingredients

Ingredients for Serving

Saute onions, ginger, garlic, & chili until onions are translucent. Then cook the bell pepper, and tomatoes, with salt until tomatoes are soft. Add tomato paste, spices, and Pav Bhaji Masala. Mix and sauté for 1-2 minutes.

Step 1-4

Stir in the chopped veggies - potatoes, cauliflower, green peas, and beetroot with water. Pressure cook at high pressure for 8 minutes. Mash the Bhaji to get a puree-like consistency. Finally, add Kasuri methi, lemon juice,  butter (1-2 tablespoons), and cilantro.

Step 5-8

Simmer for 5 more minutes or until heated through. Pav Bhaji is ready to serve.

In a pan, slice and toast dinner roll in butter, pav bhaji masala, and cilantro on medium-low heat until evenly coated and soft. 

Step 9-12

To serve, add a generous serving of bhaji in a bowl and top it with 1-2 cubes of butter and a sprinkle of cilantro. Place the soft pav with finely chopped red onions, cilantro, and lemon wedge. on the side.

How to serve Pav Bhaji

Pav bhaji is ready to eat!! Add some onions over the bhaji, squeeze lemon juice and mix. Scoop with a portion of pav and enjoy!!
