Are you a Big Fan of potato (french) fries but often curb your cravings to avoid this unhealthy fast food? Well here's a solution to that - Oven Roasted/Baked Potato Fries. I know frying always gives that additional flavor to any dish but the process definitely decreases its nutritional value too. So now a days these crispy baked fries which are equally appetizing & satiating are my go to option be it snacking or serving them as sides with Burger. No more guilt trips required after eating these delights.

I prefer using the potato with skin for this dish mainly because of its nutrional value (potato skins are known to be rich in fiber, vitamin B &C, Iron etc) so I try using potato with their skins where-ever dishes permit me to like this one. Secondly roasting fries with their skin gives a much crispier texture & also saves ton of peeling effort. See all positives there 🙂 But these fries would turn out equally good if you want to peel & use the potato.

Now to the recipe...

Ingredients:

2 large russet potatoes (or use any type of Large potato)
¼ teaspoon garlic powder (or to taste)
½ teaspoon Chaat Masala
¼ teaspoon dry parsley flakes
1 tablespoon of Olive oil
salt & pepper to taste

Method:

Wash the potatoes (with skin) thoroughly & slice them into 4 horizontal slices each as shown. Then cut each slice into french fingers. Soak these french cut potatoes into ice-cold water.  Drain & wipe them dry with a paper/regular towel. Preheat Oven to 400F & line baking sheet with aluminium foil or parchment paper & keep it ready. Pop the baking sheet for 10 mins into the hot oven for preheating. This process helps to give crispier fries.

In a bowl, add these dry potato fingers & to these add garlic powder, chaat masala, parsley flakes, olive oil, salt & pepper. Mix well. Remove the hot baking tray from the oven & arrange the potato fingers in one single layer. Then pop them into the oven for about 20 mins or till nice & golden. Flip the sides of the fingers after about 10 mins. Keep a close watch to make sure they don't get burnt. Potatoes with skin will tend to have a darker texture/color than the remaining body.

That's it, our delicious crunchy Oven Roasted/Baked Potato Fries are ready. Serve them on their own as appetizers/snacks with some Tomato ketchup & Mayonnaise or as sides with your Burgers. Enjoy!!

Happy Baking!!
