For Coconut Ladoo

  • 1 ½ cup desiccated coconut for ladoos
  • ½ cup sweetened condensed milk
  • ¼ teaspoon cardamom powder
  • 10-12 cashews finely chopped
  • 2 teaspoon ghee Indian clarified butter

For Garnishing

  • ¼ cup desiccated coconut
  • 2-3 pistachios roughly chopped

  • In a pan add 1 teaspoon ghee and the coconut and roast for about 5 mins. Do not brown them.
  • Stir in condensed milk and mix until all is well combined.
  • Aad the cardamom powder and finely chopped cashews and keep mixing until it thicken and forms a ball/sticky dough.
  • Take it off the heat and allow to cool a bit, enough for you to be able to hold and roll into a ball .
  • Divide the mixture into 12-14 equal parts.
  • Rub some ghee to your palms and take one portion and make it into a smooth ball by rolling it between your palms.
  • Roll all Ladoos in similar manner and keep them on a plate.
  • Next, roll these balls in the dedicated coconut and keep aside. Garnish with some pistachios or raisins (pressed on top).
  • Serve these warm/freshly made or cold. These stay good for up to a week when refrigerated and stored in an air-tight container.

  • Use good quality desiccated coconut. Fresh or frozen can be used too.
  • Roll the Ladoos while they are still warm.
  • Nuts are optional but highly recommended since they add a good crunch and texture to this recipe.
  • Food color can be added to make a fun variation.
