Recipe Ingredients

Cranberry juice: I prefer a 100% Cranberry juice blend with no added sugar. This juice is usually a blend of cranberry, apple, grape, etc. You can also use a combination of cranberry and pomegranate juice. I don't recommend the cranberry juice cocktail as that has a lot of added sugar.
Orange with Pineapple juice - I find the orange with pineapple juice blend gives the best-tasting punch. If you cannot find this blend, use a 1:1 ratio of pulp-free orange juice and pineapple juice.
Simple syrup: I prefer to sweeten the punch with some simple syrup. You can use this to taste or skip it based on taste preference. You can also use sweeteners of choice, like honey or maple syrup, but these will alter the taste slightly.
Carbonated drinks: I prefer combining Ginger Ale and Sprite for this recipe. Along with the fizz, ginger ale gives the drink a subtle ginger flavor, while Sprite gives it that lemon-lime flavor. You can use either of them, too, based on your preference. You can also substitute Sprite for 7Up, Moutain Dew, or any lemon-lime soda of your choice.
Garnish - I have used fresh cranberries, lemon, orange slices, and rosemary to garnish the drink. They give the drink a festive holiday look and help impart mild flavors. You can also use pomegranate seeds or cherries.
Ice: Add ice for an extra cold drink. You can avoid ice if you are using chilled juices.

Recommended Serveware

Punch bowl: Traditionally, a punch bowl is used to serve the punch. But you can also use a pitcher, beverage dispenser, or a large mixing bowl. I love this cake stand that doubles up as a punch bowl.
In addition, you will need a ladle to pour the juice (some punch bowls come with it), a measuring cup, and glasses or party plastic cups.
How to Make Non Alcoholic Christmas Punch

1 to 3 - In a large punch bowl, pitcher, or drink dispenser, pour in the chilled, refrigerated cranberry juice, orange pineapple juice, and simple sugar syrup. Give it a mix.
4 - Add the cranberries, orange and lemon slices, and rosemary. Refrigerate until ready to serve.

5 and 6- When ready to serve, pour in the ginger ale and sprite and give it one stir. Serve immediately.
7 and 8 - For serving, add ice cubes (as many as you like) to a glass and then pour the punch using a ladle. Make sure each glass gets some cranberries.
Optional - garnish further by adding a slice of orange on the side of the glass and rosemary for that festive look.

Recipe Tips
Use good quality 100% cranberry juice and skip the cocktail kind as they have added sugar.
Use chilled juices and add ice just before serving to prevent the ice from diluting the drink and watering it down.
You can adjust the drink's sweetness to your taste by adding simple syrup (or sweetener of choice) to your preference or skip it completely.
To make simple syrup at home, add equal parts (1:1) of sugar and water to a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Cool completely, then store in a glass jar and seal tightly with a lid. Keep refrigerated for 2-3 weeks.
Add carbonated drinks like Sprite and ginger ale just before serving to prevent the drink from losing its fizz and going flat. I like this drink even after the fizz goes.
Don't skip the garnishes; they add to the festive look!! Just remove the cranberries while serving kids to prevent choking hazards.
For an extra special festive look, freeze fresh cranberries, orange slices, lemon slices, rosemary, and water in a bundt pan to make a wreath ice ring! When ready to serve, unmold the ring by running it under water and adding it to the punch bowl.
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! You can make the juice base for Christmas punch 2-3 days in advance. Store it in the fridge in a sealed container to keep it fresh. Add carbonated drinks like Sprite and ginger ale, ice, and any fresh garnishes before serving to maintain its bubbly texture and festive look. This way, it's fresh and fizzy.
For an adult-only party, you can add vodka or rum to this recipe. Or keep the bottles on the side for everyone to add to their individual cups.
Punch is derived from the Hindi word "panch," which means "five." This drink was originally made using five ingredients: alcohol, sugar, lemon/lime juice, water, and spices. Nowadays, there are many varieties and variations of punch.
