Is there anything better than sipping a chilled Nutella Milkshake on a hot summery day??
It's a decadent treat that we like to indulge in once in a while and especially during summers!!
Here is another favorite milkshake recipe - Oreo Milkshake
This Nutella shake is
- made with just 3 ingredients
- super easy to make
- creamy, rich, and decadent
- loved by kids and adults
The Nutella milkshake recipe in my opinion needs no introduction but for those who do, it's a delicious and creamy drink made with just three ingredients - ice cream, milk, and Nutella.
Nutella is a sweetened hazelnut cocoa spread and I haven't personally met anyone who doesn't want to just scoop a spoonful of it directly into their mouth. It's that delicious!!
Now imaging that deliciousness being combined with icecream!! Has to be Yum!
If you are a Nutella lover you are in for a treat for sure!! This Nutella shake is luscious, creamy, and irresistible!
I had initially tested this milkshake recipe using TCBY frozen yogurt and it was so delicious!!
It also tastes delicious with vanilla or chocolate ice cream or a combination of both.
So why wait!! Let's see how to make this easy nutella milkshake recipe!!
Nutella - It is a sweetened hazelnut cocoa spread and the star ingredient of this recipe! If you don't get Nutella where you live, use your favorite hazelnut chocolate spread that is available.
Icecream - You can use ice cream or frozen yogurt for this recipe. I have used vanilla ice cream but chocolate or a combination of both also works well.
Milk - This helps adjust the consistency so it's pourable. If you prefer to keep it thick you can omit it too!! I prefer whole milk but 2%, skim milk or even almond milk can be used.
Please refer to the recipe card for exact measurements of ingredients.
Step by Step Method
1 - 4 Add all the ingredients into the blender and blend (about 20-30 seconds) until everything is well combined and frothy!!
Creamy and delicious Nutella Milkshake is ready. Serve immediately!! Enjoy!!
My preferred way to serve this Nutella shake is in a tall glass, topped with a dollop of ice cream and a drizzle of Nutella. You can use whipped cream too instead of ice cream.
Feeling fancy? freeze the glass for a few minutes then decorate it by drizzling some Nutella on it before adding the milkshake for that cafe or restaurant-style Nutella milkshake!!
These are few of our favorite variations but feel free to experiment!! You can hardly go wrong with nutella and ice cream!!
Banana Nutella Milkshake - Add one banana to the recipe
Oreo Nutella Milkshake - Add 3-4 oreo cookies to the recipe
Nutella peanut butter milkshake - add 1-2 tablespoon of peanut butter to the recipe.
Nutella protein shake - add a scoop of your protein powder to the recipe.
Use chilled milk and ice cream right out of the freezer for that thick shake consistency. Warm milk will cause the ice cream to melt and melted ice cream will change the milkshake consistency.
Add the Nutella last on top of the icecream for it to blend well. Adding it first cause it to stick to the bottom of the blender and that does not blend well.
Want to keep it healthy!! Skip the ice cream and use frozen bananas instead!! Although that definitely changes the taste and as per my kids that no longer is a milkshake but more of Nutella banana smoothie.
This milkshake is already sweet due to the sugars in nutella and ice cream but if you prefer it sweet add sugar (to taste) while blending.
Frequently asked questions
Yes, replace ice cream with frozen yogurt for a slightly healthier alternative or frozen bananas for a much healthier option.
You can use a hand blender. Alternatively, you can melt the ice cream in a mason jar, then add the milk and Nutella to it and shake until everything is combined and frothy!! Get in that arm workout!!
Absolutely!! If you have those last bits of Nutella at the bottom of the jar, just microwave milk until warm (not hot) and add it to the jar. Screw the cap on tight and shake until the Nutella dissolves. Add this Nutella milk while making a milkshake.
