Why You'll Love This Smoothie
Quick and easy: This smoothie comes together in just 5 minutes using a blender. Perfect for busy mornings or when you need something fast.
Creamy and smooth: The combination of banana, yogurt, and milk gives this smoothie a rich, thick texture.
Naturally sweetened: Dates add just the right amount of sweetness, so there's no need for refined sugar.
Simple ingredients: Made with everyday ingredients you likely already have in your kitchen.
Kid-friendly and versatile: A great option for kids and easy to customize with add-ins like protein powder, nuts, or seeds.
Perfect anytime: Enjoy it for breakfast, as a quick snack, or whenever you're craving a refreshing homemade smoothie.
Strawberry Banana Smoothie Ingredients

Strawberries: I've used fresh strawberries, but you can also use frozen for this classic strawberry-banana smoothie. Frozen strawberries make the smoothie thicker and colder, while fresh strawberries work just as well when blended with ice.
Banana: Use a ripe banana for the best flavor and natural sweetness. A frozen banana will give the smoothie an extra creamy texture and eliminate the need for ice.
Milk: I use regular or whole milk, but any milk works well in this smoothie. Use dairy milk for a classic creamy texture, or swap in almond milk, oat milk, or soy milk for a dairy-free option.
Yogurt: It adds extra creaminess and helps create a thick, smooth smoothie. Plain, vanilla yogurt or any type of yogurt will work for this recipe. Use Greek yogurt for a thicker, creamier smoothie.
Sweetener: I prefer using Medjool dates for sweetening my smoothies instead of refined sugar. If you don't have dates, you can use honey, maple syrup, sugar, or agave syrup. Start with a little and adjust to taste.
Optional add-ins: These add-ins are completely optional and can be added based on what you have on hand. I've used chia seeds, but flax seeds, hemp seeds, collagen powder, or protein powder can also be blended in without changing the smoothie's flavor or texture.
Please refer to the recipe card for exact ingredient measurements.
How to Make Strawberry Banana Smoothie (Stepwise Photos)

- Add ingredients to the blender: milk, yogurt, strawberries, banana, and pitted dates (in that order).
- Blend until smooth: Blend on high (usually 30-60 seconds) until the smoothie is thick and creamy.
- Adjust consistency: Add more milk to thin the smoothie, or yogurt or frozen fruit to thicken it.
- Serve immediately: Pour into glasses and enjoy right away for the best flavor and texture.
Variations
Make it Dairy-Free: Use plant-based milk, such as almond or oat, and swap the yogurt for dairy-free yogurt for a creamy vegan strawberry banana smoothie.
Add Protein: Add a scoop of vanilla or unflavored protein powder, collagen peptides, nut butter, or hemp seeds for a thicker, more filling smoothie.
Strawberry Banana Smoothie Without Yogurt: Skip the yogurt and use extra banana for creaminess.
Make it green: Blend in a handful of fresh spinach for a simple green strawberry banana smoothie.
Add healthy fats: Blend in 1-2 tablespoons of ground flaxseed, chia seeds, or hemp seeds (hemp hearts) for extra texture and a simple nutrient boost.
My Favorite Ways to Serve This Strawberry Banana Smoothie
- As a smoothie: Serve freshly blended and chilled. Add a straw and a strawberry on the side for a simple, refreshing presentation.
- Smoothie bowl: Blend to a thicker consistency by using less milk, more yogurt, or frozen fruit. Serve in a bowl and top with granola, sliced fruit, nuts, or seeds.
- Popsicles: Pour the smoothie into popsicle molds and freeze for a fun, delicious frozen treat.

Storage & Make-Ahead Tips
This strawberry smoothie recipe is best enjoyed fresh, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container or jar in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. Give it a good shake or stir before serving, as natural separation and discoloration may occur.
Freezer smoothie packs: For easy prep, portion strawberries, banana, and dates into freezer bags. When ready to blend, add the frozen ingredients to the blender with milk and yogurt for a quick, fuss-free smoothie.
Recipe Tips
Use fresh or frozen fruit: Frozen strawberries or bananas make the smoothie thick and creamy without needing ice.
Consistency: For a thicker smoothie, use more frozen fruit or extra yogurt. Add more milk for a thinner consistency.
Blending: Add liquid first, then yogurt and fruit. Blend on low, then high, scraping the sides if needed.
Sweetness tip: Ripe bananas and dates usually add enough sweetness. Taste before adding more.
Optional add-ins: Chia seeds, ground flaxseed, hemp seeds, protein powder, or nut butter (peanut butter or almond butter) can be blended in.
Make ahead: Store leftovers in an airtight jar in the fridge for up to 24 hours; shake or stir before serving.
Freezer packs: Portion strawberries, banana, and dates into freezer bags. When ready, blend with milk and yogurt.
