20+ Best Diwali Recipes
Diwali, the ‘Festival of Lights’ , also known as Deepavali is one of the most popular Indian festivals. It is a 5-day celebration (in Oct/Nov) which begins on Dhanteras and ends on Bhaiya Dooj. It signifies victory of good over evil, light over darkness, and knowledge over ignorance.
The festival of Diwali is celebrated by illuminating homes with diya (oil lamps), decorating with lights and lanterns, drawing Rangoli, wearing new clothes, making Diwali Faral (Sweet and savory snacks), meeting friends and family, fireworks, and eating delicious food.
Making Diwali Faral with Mom and Aaji (grandmother) is one of my fondest memories of Diwali. From spicy savory Diwali snacks like Chakali, Spicy Shankarpali, Chivda to sweet recipes like Karanji, Besan Ladoo, everything was made from scratch and in bulk to share with family and friends.
I am excited to share these traditional and authentic Maharshtrian Diwali snack recipes with you that I grew up eating along with some other Indian sweet and savory recipes that are perfect for festive occasion.
Wishing everyone a very happy, prosperous and safe Diwali!
